News 22nd October 07 - Update After a solid year of vocal domination, Gary has chosen to bid farewell due to both personal reasons and other ongoing commitments. His departure has been on good terms, and Augur would like to wish Gary all the best with other projects he has chosen to pursue. Despite his departure, the band has lost no momentum; numerous tracks are currently in the works, as well as an extensive search for the next Augur vocalist. Applications for the now vacant vocalist position are welcome via email, or alternatively, through our myspace. 31st July - Band News: Our guitarist has recently returned from the land of ice and snow; a huge cheers and farewell to Mr James Best for shouldering the wailing and shredding duties in his absense. We are currently hard at work on three new tracks which represent a departure from the earlier, more progressive style of the band. Augur is transforming into a more technical style of death metal, with elements of black and progressive metal combined. We feel these changes in sound represent a step forward from and a level above the original direction of the band, and we are looking forward to letting you hear them. Take a look at the Live Schedule and come down to one of our shows, we will not disappoint. In addition to Blemished Wings, already a firm crowd favourite, we plan to unleash an unrelentingly technical piece of work in our upcoming shows. Finally, we have uploaded photos from several recent shows thanks to the work of Nat Tekin. 22nd May - Demo Available For Order: The recent Augur demo release - Origins is now available to order over the internet by credit card or paypal. Click the banner above to order. 10th April - Metalstock: Augur, having just returned from a long and exhaustive pilgrimage to the far reaches of country NSW for the famed Metalstock Open Air Festival would like to fondly thank all the crazy fuckers in attendance for this awesome event, and expecially all who let loose for what was an awesome set we would be humbled to repeat next year. Amidst the blood, sweat and beers, we managed to endure the sixteen hour trek from Melbourne to Scone in relatively good form and spirits (spirits being the staple diet of the journey) to unload 30 minutes of blast laden chaos upon the festival, currently into its third year running. It was an incredible honour to share the stage (and beers) with around 40 of the countrys best underground metal acts, and a weekend that we are all certain not to forget for many years to come. A special thanks to the organisers, Rob, Ollo and all the others who made this event what it was - we will see you next year! Photos for metalstock can be found here... Please be sure to hit up the gigs section of the website or our myspace and head down to any of our upcoming shows. Cheers, and Metal! 10th March - Demo release: Augur's first demo, entitled "Origins" has finally been released, and is available at all future gigs. The CD will also be available at Metal Mayhem. Two tracks from the demo are available for download. 14th February - Metalstock: Augur have been accepted to play at Metalstock festival. This is a 3 day open air metal festival held over Easter weekend 6th-9th April at Scone, NSW. We are all very pumped to add our taste of destruction and brutal riffs to this awesome event. While we are on the way we may play some additional gigs at Sydney. Details for these will be posted closer to the Metalstock date. Metalstock webpage - Metalstock myspace 30th January - Demo: After numerous returns to the studio, mixing of the soon to be released demo has finished. The full tracks can be downloaded, CDs will be available at our next gig. Augur will be returning to the live scene soon with our newly trained shredder. Gigs are being planned Febuary and March, so stay posted for details. 24th January - Recording: Augur are currently in the studio, putting together a 2-track Demo. Recording has finished, we managed to get it all done before Ben's departure. Final mixing is currently in progress. The physical demo will be available when you next see us on stage. Photos of our recording can be found here 10th January - New guitarist: Augur guitarist Ben is heading to Sweden for six months, so good friend and fellow shredder Mr James Best will be filling in for the duration. The long winter nights will inspire Ben to write some extra-brutal tracks, so the full-length release we have scheduled for late 2007 should not be missed. We currently have a 13-minute epic in the works - a more technical, fast and brutal track than we have ever attempted. You have been warned. 31th December - Launch gigs: Our two band-launch gigs were both great successes. We thank everyone who attended either evening very much for coming to see us, and we would also like to extend a thankyou to the fantastic group of bands we played with. |
